I am a young artist currently residing in Charleston, South Carolina. My passion is mainly photography although I use other mediums like oil paints to express my ideas as well. I was inspired to take up a camera when I realized how photography can be used as a powerful tool to stylize the existing world and our memories. My ideas have continued to shape, grow, and develop since my first photograph and art became a passion I have doggedly pursued despite a demanding academic and professional career through the US Navy.
My Artistic Vision
I always feel like there’s a wall of rushing water pushing us through life while we hurriedly try to hold on to our careers, families, relationships, and passions. We miss the gemstones the water unearths and deposits for us. My work halts the rush and sifts the river for the gemstones we miss.
By using perspective, framing, and traditional methods I create intimate and nostalgic images of objects small enough to be overlooked, objects too large to be seen, and moments too short to be remembered. My images elicit responses designed to give the viewer a moment of pause and reflection. My art allows viewers to see the gemstones deposited as mundane objects and everyday occurrences that form their daily lives.
